Strong earthquake felt many people who live in northern Sumatra, Indonesia. Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) recorded earthquake strength based on Sinabang Island, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, is magnitude 7.2 While the United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the 7.7 location 2.360°N, 97.132°E with depth: 31 km (19.3 miles).
Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) notes, earthquake aftershocks continued to occur, among other things at 05:26 with magnitude 5.1 located approximately 60 km southeast of Sinabang and at 05:28 with magnitude 5.2 with the epicenter about 3 . 2 km northeast of Gunungsitoli, North Sumatra.
Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre has lifted a tsunami warning 7.2 earthquake in Sumatra. Previously, the institution launched a local tsunami warning.
Institution's claim that the sea level readings showed that a significant tsunami did not happen so that the tsunami warning was canceled. The Government of Indonesia and Thailand who had released a tsunami warning- these warnings have also been revoked.

ReplyDeleteI exactly live in Sumatra here, the earthquake occurred at 5 a.m when most people are still asleep. Luckily nothing serious happen this time :(
