An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 occurred in the Ontario-Québec region, Canada, at 01:41:41 PM local time, USGS reported. The earthquake had a depth of 16.4 km, and the epicenter was located 49 km north of Cumberland, 52 km north of Gatineau, Québec, 58 km northeast of Hull and 61 km north of Ottawa.
Some building evacuations took place in the city, Canada's capital, people seemed surprised but no injuries were reported. The quake appeared to cause no serious damage in that country.
The earthquake was felt also in parts of Michigan, Ohio, New York, Massachusetts and Illinois. People in other cities such as Chicago and Cleveland, and others in the Northeast such as Boston reported feeling the quake. People in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Vermont and West Virginia also reported the quake.
