There was Anne Murray before Shania Twain, Celline Dion, and Avril Lavigne. Anne Murray was the first woman and the first Canadian to win 'Album of the year' at the country music association awards, for her 1984 album 'A little Good News'. Her albums have sold over 54 million copies.

Anne Muray paved the way for female singers to emerge out of Canada. She might be known for her ballad 'You Needed Me'.
In her autobiography,'All of Me', Anne Murayreflects on her 41 year career in music. Anne Muray wasthe first Canadian female solo singer to reach no 1 on the US Charts and the first to earn a gold record for 'Snowbird'in 1970. She was also won the Grammy for 'best pop vocalist' in 1978.

So, she has a wonderful career in music. Her most recent album,'Anne Muray's Chritsmas Album', released in 2008, featured a duet with Michale Buble.
