A strong earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter Scale has rocked New Zealand, just southeast of 7 Km in Christchurch, at Friday midnight local time, said the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Although the quake was strong, but there was no tsunami warnings. There is no widespread tsunami threat that can destroy buildings, based on earthquake and tsunami historical data.
The epicenter at a depth of 66 Km and the quake struck at 16.35 GMT.
